Dear Readers: I have been so busy organizing emergency communications, working with clubs, doing my “day job,” and getting repeaters on-the-air that I have been very remiss in posting to the blogs. I am going to try to get on a weekly posting schedule going forward. Thanks!

Do You Really Need A Christmas Tree?

This is a film of a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) test showing just how flammable a dry Christmas tree can become. Last year, in my community, we had a tree fire that killed an 18-year-old woman and sent two young children to the Shriner’s burn unit in Sacramento.

Please, if you have a Christmas tree this holiday, keep it watered and dispose of it as soon as possible. Learn more>>

(I’ve seen this film so many times now that I won’t have a real tree in my house.)
