EMCOMM U Program Update

Hello:

Below is the draft program, as it sits at this moment, for EMCOMM U, to be held next Saturday (3/14), from 8a-4p (note earlier start) in Stockton. I have left an open slot at 2pm with the idea that someone has one or more program suggestions/ideas that really need to be presented. I have thoughts about how to fill this time, but would also be happy to do multiple breakouts if I can get some speakers lined up. If there is something you’d like to see presented—we are very digital-heavy at the moment—respond to this email with the topic and a suggested speaker and I’ll make the additions.

I also need some technical help to get Dennis Dura’s presentation off the computer and onto the big screen and into the PA system. I think I know how to do this, but if you have done it, please drop me a note. Worst case, we can have Dennis on voice-only, but I’ve sent him a camera and I know we’d like to see what he looks like. :>

We can add more digital stuff (Winlink 2000) or some emergency management training, or how to plan exercises, etc. It has been hard to get speakers volunteers are available on Saturdays and government workers aren’t. I can teach people how to organize a HamCram (in a breakout session) if you’d like.

This is your conference, so I’d like to make some additions that make it as useful and interesting as possible.

Here’s the program:

8:00 am Opening

8:10 am Dennis Dura, K2DCD, ARRL HQ (Need some tech help with this teleconference)

9:00 am Break

9:15 am Jim Oberhofer, KN6PE, Introduction to OutpostPM

10:00 am Break

10:15 am Tim Barrett, K6BIV, D-STAR: An Introduction and Use in EMCOMM

11:15 am Phil Cook, KI6OAG, San Joaquin County EMS, Ham Radio and California Medical Volunteers and Using CAHAN for Emergency Alerting

12:00 pm Lunch (Provided) Show-and-Tell Time

1:00 p.m. Jim Oberhofer, KN6PE, Advanced Outpost PM and Network Building

1:45 pm Break

2:00 pm Open Slot

2:45 pm Break

3:00 pm EMCOMM Forum: Planning For Our Future

4:00 pm Close

Please help us clean up after ourselves so we may use this facility in the future.

Thanks and 73,

David Coursey, N5FDL
